Register as veteran NOW

The Stand Down is open to all veterans, their families, and those who support veterans free of charge.

All veterans and family members must register to attend the event. When you register, a QR code will be sent to you. That is your registration ticket. Make sure to either print the QR code and bring that with you to the Stand Down or save the code on your phone and bring that for registration. While registration will be available on-site, we highly recommend registering beforehand to speed up your entrance to the event. 

Registration is open to anyone who served in any branch of the U.S. military for any length of time and eligible dependents. Eligible dependents include dependent children of a veteran, spouses and partners of a veteran, and anyone financially dependent on a veteran. When registering, the veteran or eligible dependent can add guests to their registration including non-dependent family, caregivers, and others who will be attending with the veteran. 

What to bring 

All you need to bring is yourself as a veteran or eligible dependent, your registration QR code, and any of the following documents that are available:

• Current photo ID
• Veteran’s DD214 (Discharge Documentation)
• Current medical records (if you plan to use the Claims Clinic)
• Any additional documents required for desired services (see below)
• We recommend that you bring a physical copy of these documents 

Services

The Stand Down is a chance for us to connect veterans, surviving spouses, dependents, and caregivers with services, support groups, community partners, and more who are here to help.

 

 

 

Some of the services will require additional documents or will have limited availability. When you register for the Stand Down please select any services you are interested in, and the VSO will reach out to you. 

The Veterans Services Office (VSO) is excited in particular for the following services: 

Greater Bay Area Claims Clinic

At the Stand Down there will be a full claims clinic which will allow veterans to rapidly move through the claims process, going as far as completing the claims process during the event. This will include support from County Veteran Service Representatives from Santa Clara and neighboring counties, the Department of Veterans Affairs Veteran Benefits Administration (VBA), and providers participating in the Compensation and Disability Exam (C&P exams). All claims can be brought forward at the Greater Bay Area Claims Clinic. However, not all claims will be eligible for the on-site C&P exams.

The VSO will contact those who express interest in participating in the Greater Bay Area Claims Clinic with additional information from the Veteran Benefits Administration as details become available.

Dental services

In partnership with Santa Clara County’s Health and Human Services, there will be dental services free of charge to veterans. Appointment slots will be limited so please register if you are interested in dental services.

Legal assistance

The County of Santa Clara's Public Defender's Office will be available to provide legal aid with issues related specifically to the Santa Clara County legal system, including outstanding fees from traffic cases, expunging past convictions, outstanding warrants, and other issues. Depending on the issue at hand, specific information will be required. Please register so the VSO can reach out to you to help gather the appropriate information and forms before the Stand Down.
